The bodies of my boxes are made of stoneware and high fired in a salt/soda atmosphere.   I hand carve the lids, drawers and doors from American hardwoods:  cherry, black walnut, and maple.  The lids are hinged with wire pins in a style called “snipe”.  The small interior lids shown in the blanket chests are also hinged and may be opened.   Paintings are done in oils.
